Well have the opportunity to get some tubes of the 2011 San Fransisco American Silver Eagles BUT they want a little more commission per coin for the S mints.
So anyone thing these will be worth more than any other silver ounce coin in the future?
Think it is about $1.50 more per coin.
Not sure weather to pay the extra or get get silver bullion.

The only way to prove if a tube was minted in San Francisco is to have the tube removed from a San Francisco Monster Box and put into one of NGC's special tubes. You would have to have a monster Box sent to NGC and have the tube switched to their tube at the NGC facility in Sarasota. I'm not sure if PCGS offers this service but I know that NGC does. If you simply buy a tube from someone with a San Francisco Monster Box the only assurance that you would have would be a certificate of authenticity which generally speaking is as reliable as a piece of toilet paper. I did buy a single S minted ASE as a novelty but I don't think they will be worth much more down the line unless there is a significant difference between the number of ASE's minted at San Francisco and those minted at West Point. For all we know by the end of the year they may produce twice as many at San Francisco this year. That certainly wouldn't call for a serious premium for S minted coins.

Well APMEX said these would be in a PCGS tube so guess they do it for them maybe this is why they cost a little more. Oh well did not know they do not actually have the S mint mark on the ASE will forget getting any of them.

You know I rarely argue not buying something just because it costs a weee bit more, but in this case I agree passing is best, esp with no S on the coin....
You can probably get just as nice 2011 in a tube for less, and save you all those future questions from buyers wanting to know where that is S, or how can you verify they are from San Fran, etc.....

Well.... APMEX offering the Monster Box and also the PCGS roll (20 coins) w/ the sticker saying from SF Mint..... and yes, it's pricier. EDIT: Saw your post after posted mine. I agree with Junior_e that the "collectible" factor that created the premium only come when you see a major diff in mintage.... You can always try and get one or two PCGS tube (at least two so that when the price go up, you can sell one and can still have one left)..... just think you are spending that extra $40/roll is the cost of a carton of cigaret or just a dinner/movie night. If I have the funding and option I would try.

Yeah, no way I would pay extra for a roll of them. I also bought an MS70 ASE S mint edition but only as a part of a set. I just can't believe they wouldn't have struck them with an S mint mark. I mean I guess it is probably a cost thing but like my dad said to me at least 1 million times," if it's worth doing it's worth doing right."

Mintage for West Point SAE and the SF SAE for 2011 will be astronomical. Last year's bullion American Silver Eagles broke the all-time annual record when 34,662,500 were sold. That is why they started production in SF also. They know a good thing when they see it. With both mints pumping them out 2011 will probably surpass 2010.

If you're collecting unopened tubes of silver or never plan to plant your tulips, go for it. The minute the tube is opened, it's bullion.

I see that one online dealer bought a Monster Box of San Fran ASE's and had them slabbed by PCGS. They are designated as "2011-(S) MS70", and they are at a bottom-basement price of only $89.95 (just a small Up-charge) EDIT: on looking further, it looks like $89.95 is a normal price for 2011 ASE MS70, so that means there is no up-charge for the (S) designation
