I got a letter from the US Mint today about the Sept. 11 Medal West Point or P mint for $56.95. I hope I can get some comments/opinions from CCF members. The mint wants orders at this price by Aug.18. What say you? More input needed. gasman96

I got the same letter/flyer in the mail today. IMO I am not really impressed with the design. I think I will pass on it for now.

I don't think these are worth the 'pre-issue' price until silver hits $50/oz. The national wildlife medals were last US Mint silver medals in '03 and usually trade @ melt.

I don't think the design looks bad. I already have my order in. However I think that the mint should lower mintage's to make them more attractive and more desirable with lower #'s minted IMHO.

I don't really mind the design. I'm sure it will be even prettier in hand. The price is high. But, $10.00 of it is going to the 911 fund. So, that in mind I think the price is reasonable.

I think I am going to order one of each, "P" & "W" mints. The design doesn't look great from the pictures. But,I hope it looks better in hand since they are supposed to be proofs. Mintage figures of 2 mil between the two mints seems like a lot.

I ordered mine today. One reason I ordered it is for my wife who worked ground zero with the army reserves and she said she would like to have the coin with all her stuff. The $10 going to the 911 fund is a great idea.
