Now that I have been roll searching for a month or so, my mom tells me that back in her coin collecting days she bought a $50 bank bag of pennies back in the early 70s. Well she found it and wants to give me it. Question is...should I bust it open and search it or does it have more collector value as a lead sealed bank bag?

Exactly. I'm a coin collector, not a bag collector!

I know itis just one bag, so it isn't statistically significant to its contents, but do you think anyone would have interest in knowing just what was in the bag by year and mint? I could keep track of them as I search it

The bag date is 1972

I suspect with the high proportion of 72 DDO varieties, a sealed bag would be of very high interest. The odds are that it is not a significant source, but what if it was? You should gain no matter what.

Get out the magnifier and a jug of lemonade and have some good ol'searching fun. It's kind of sad though. I didn't use to need a magnifier!
