Civil Engineer here... been practicing engineering for 16 years both privately and as a (current) municipal floodplain manager.
I didn't even know there was a general section for members with >50 posts, just having recently passed that milestone... must go apply.

So primarily, coin-collecting is ruled by students and engineers ...
no teachers, no doctors, no lawyers? ... no exotic dancers, or lead singers?

I'm not surprised about all the engineers. Any career where you need to be detail oriented is likely to attract a bunch of OCD types and that works well with coin collecting. . I'm a college professor. My degree is in genetics and I collect, organize, identify, and classify insects professionally. So I have plenty of OCD tendencies myself.

Well, as long as we're using our OCD for good, instead of evil ...
Ummm, OCD stands for Old Coin Dudes, right?

I am not an engineer!
My wife would also verify that I am not an exotic dancer.
I retired from the Air Force in 2001 after 25 years and stuck around doing many of the same things ... without wearing a uniform or deploying around the world at a moment's notice.

Civil engineer, mainly roads, environmental and building hydraulics. Spent a lot of time on army naval and air force bases as a civvie.
Came into contact with Mirage fighter aircraft early on in my career, F18's later on, and gizmos like Mk 48 torpedoes, but I have also been into fire fighting services for high rise.
