This was one of ten designs for the French 10 franc coin in 1929, this design was not choosen for the circulation coin. During the design process splashers are made to see how the new design looks. I feel very fortunate that I was able to get this splasher as they very seldom leave the mint. Two essai coins were made, one in aluninum-bronze and the other in silver.

This splasher is a bit unique as both obverse and reverse are struck on the same splash, 99.99% of splashers are uniface.

I have got the one in aluminum-bronze now which is 2 / 3 rds of the way to completeing this set. If anyone should see this essai design in Silver please let me know as it would be awesome to have a complete set.. Thanks
