My local grocery store "Shaws" supermarket, which has a coinstar machine located in it now has options for a "Shaws" gift card option.......
that means that we can dump $150-$200 in Zincolns a week and not have to pay a fee for our groceries that we would have to buy anyway.....what a country
do others have that option in there area ?

The coinstar at my local supermarket will count coins for free if you choose the option to receive the cash in the form of a gift card. I have not checked to see what kind of gift cards they offer.

A lot of Coinstars let you get Amazon (and other online retailer) gift certificates for no fee, which I'll eventually use because I buy lots of stuff online. I use them to dump halves occasionally.

On the note of dumping halves, how many will it take before it fills up?

Just enough to its full, ..JK, I was sitting here wondering the same thing. I'm going to guess around 200 give or take $20

It's a lot more than that - I dumped most of a box and it didn't fill up. For some reason it rejected about 10% of my halves (some went after several runs-through) but it didn't fill up.

I dump $1k at a time into my free coinstar machines and they rarely fill up. Coinstar has two large bins in the bottom that take all the coins. When one fills up it kicks over to the other one and makes a very loud clanging noise with the large halves hitting the empty bottom. Draws quite a few looks...

The credit union that I use has a Coinstar machine that waives the fee, if you are a member, and put the money into your account.
