I have a 1999 May 25 cent coin with the rope on a canoe variety. Is this a known variety? I Can't seem to find much on it.

To the forum kobykelso.
I haven't heard of a May variety. The only ones I know about are the September & November mules.
But I do recall hearing about the"extra rope"on the Canadian voyageur dollar.I'm not sure what year it is.
(I THINK,OR MAYBE I'm ALL WET)

I LOVE THIS VARIETY!!

May 1999 canoe with rope - a die crack. One of the nicest modern quarter varieties there is.
Value: $10-$30 for now...but I expect it to be a very hot commodity one day.

Hang onto it, or sell it to me :).

Two weeks ago we had a yard sale.My wife said I should put out some coins.I dug out my '99s and had enough left in the rolls to make 9 sets.To my surprise 5 of the nine May coins were "extra rope".What does this say about rarity and how many of the the other 31 I had sold or given away were"extra rope"?

The 1999 and 2000 series quarters had all kinds of were thngs going on with them. Die Cracks, dots extra metal and so on. Almost every roll that I searched, I've found errors.
I love error coins however I dont think these will ever be worth much. Too many! I have 9 of the canoe with rope varieties and still have several rolls that I havent searched through.

I've found a few of these as well, like posted back in 2011 by darryldarryl, 1999 -2000 seems to host quite the bit of errors and varieties on almost every coin, I stopped looking at them when I realized finding one error free coin was harder than finding one without some sort of error. I'm assuming most of the errors were in tolerance of the mint during production so I hardly look anymore (other than for mules of course). Just the other day I found a 1999 May with 3 strike throughs side by side that make it look like 3 figures are sitting in the water right by the shoreline watching the logger on the water. Obviously I kept it but only because I personally liked it, I don't see any real value in it though.
