There has recently been a conversation about getting rolls of quarters, halves, and dollars from banks. I didn't want to further hijack the thread, so I started from scratch.

I was out today on errands and found myself adjacent to a bank. On a lark, I went in and asked if they had "fresh rolls" of quarters and rolls of halves. She asked around, but didn't have the halves. The quarters she gave me were not "fresh"--about half pre-99 and only one NV and one CO from this year.

So what is the proper terminology when talking to a bank teller and asking for a roll of uncirculated quarters. "Fresh" didn't seem to work. I doubt Unc or BU would either. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Banks dont have mint rolls, they have either Brinks or fed bank rolls.

Talk to the teller and ask if you can order rolls of the new State Quarters.

My bank will order them for me so that when they come in they call me to pick them up.

always use main branch or fed banks for the roll orders the smaller branches seldom have them.

I had to go to several banks at the main branch and ask for the person that is in charge of ordering money from one of the distributors, Brinks, ADT, Wells Fargo, Loomis etc.

Try talking to the Head Teller and if you don't get anywhere with that person ask to talk to the bank president or someone of higher authority. You will succeed sooner or later. I know where I am they have a federal reserve bank that is within 20 some miles from me which receives them from the u s mint and then the coins are distributed from there to local banks by one of the ones mentioned above. I guess it helps if there is a federal reserve bank close to you. I called the federal reserve bank here to ask which banks I can get them from and that helped me out also. I know here there is only a certain time window in which you can order each of the new quarter boxes.

Brinks uses here clear plastic for rolls and ADT I found uses the strings paper for the rolls.

You will have to open an account at that bank and most likely like I do I order either 1 or 2 boxes at a time. Quarters is $500 a box. The bank I get mine from doesn't want them back at their small branch so I deposit them in another account at another bank after sorting through them. Since finding a bank to order them from by the boxes I have since gone through probably $8000.00 worth of quarters.
They told me if I wanted lincolns I would have to order 1000.00 worth at a time. I don't know why but they say it is their policy. They said they have enough pennys being deposited and don't need any more.Suppose when they get overloaded with coins they have to ship them somewhere. I have yet to get nickel boxes or halves. Though I haven't persued it. I may. The coins in rolls in my opinion most of the time are in better condition than ones I got from ordering them from the mint in bags. Good Luck !

I have preconditioned my bank teller by giving her one of the new State Quarter right after I get mine from the mint. It usually takes two more weeks before any show up at the bank and by then I can go in and ask if any of the 'new State Quarters' have arrived, and if they have, she has saved me back a couple of rolls to use as tips around town on my morning coffee breaks.
It works for me! So git it a try.

Ok I went out to some local banks and found out that most have the new Fed wrapped Quarters. However pennies nickels and dimes are not found in single rolls in any of the branches around me.
Do you guys think the US Mint in Philadelphia has single rolls of these new coins? Because I live very close to the philly mint....
