Trying to find later dates by roll searching to complete this series. I am finding a few bicentennial (1776-1996)coins. Are these worth keeping?
Is there any other coins in the series after 1970 worth watching for or keeping?
Thanks -- Terrell

Bicentennial Halves have no particular value, unless you come across a 40%-silver proof one (There are both silver and clad proofs, so be mindful of this). It's going to be tough (though not impossible) to find any halves 2002 or newer by roll searching, since those were only minted for collectors and in relatively small quantities. I myself have never seen one dated past 2001 "in the wild". All that having been said, Kennedy halves are one of my personal favorite series. Good luck with it!

Well, proof coins do turn up occationally as well as post 2001 coins as they were not intended for regular circulation.

Bicentennial are one of the most common dates because they were minted for two years. You'll get sick of them if you roll hunt regularly (that and 1971). I see dates later than 2001 pretty regularly (I have most of them now), and I've gotten an occasional proof. 1987-P&D is the hardest date other than 1970-D; I've never seen one.

I understand wanting to find these from roll searching but past around 2002 they are difficult in the wild. I purchased all of mine from nice folks on this site for around a buck a piece, unc.

I've seen lots of post-2002 halves lately. I just found a 2004 in BU condition. I even found a sealed roll of 2009 halves still in the US Mint wrapper just last week.

I went to one of my banks and they didn't have any Half or Dollar rolls.
I was asked "Why would I want those clunky coins." I think getting rid of the dollar bill and just using coins is going to be a hard sell.
I'll keep trying.

Ask the bank to order a box of them for you.

I picked up 3 rolls of Kennedy's yesterday. Some bicentennials, some 1971's, a lot of 90's. I noticed a 92-S and got excited only to see it was a clad. I'm brand new to the roll searching though, so I'll keep trying.
btw- how many rolls to a box?

Nor as easy as it used to be. Many banks expect you to have a substantial account with them prior to any such orders. Many too expect you to pay for shipping charges to have them delivered to that bank. I wonder when they will make it a policy to only order halves on a Wednesday, from 9AM to 9:04.5AM and only if your wearing red sox.

50 rolls in a box usually ($500). It is true that a lot of banks won't order them or will charge you, so shop around. Give your business to banks that give you the best service.

You can also do as I did when my bank started charging me $4.25 per box... I made them my DUMP bank. Now I pick up coins from other banks (at no charge), and relocate the duds with the bank with the offending charges!

Check the Kennedy roll searching thread. Once you get through the 500 plus pages, you will likely have NO questions left. LOL
