For some very odd reason lately, the Brinks rolls I am getting are looking fishy. Like when I open a roll and find like 5 or 6 1992-D LMC. That is like 10% of the roll. Then just a moment ago I opened a roll and found 4 Canadian cents. Coincidence? I think not.

They are out of a sealed Brinks box.

Interesting topic ... but why are you posting this in the 'USA Error and Variety' forum. I say your finds are just normal bank roll variance ... I've seen the same in many of my roll searches. David

Because I search for varieties and errors. The 1992-D has a CAM variety. It just seemed odd that I would find that many 1992-D coins in a single roll in 2011. That is what started me thinking about this. Then when I got the 4 Canadians, I was really wondering. That is why it is in this forum.

I don't think the quantity you are talking about statistically speaking is significant. If over the long haul you find these sort of issues in 2% of your rolls, then I would say it is interesting.

I normally find way more "D" mints than "P"s....but this box I am finding about 75 percent "P"s and alot more copper than normal......I also have found only 1 cent that was newer than 2006...I think someone rolled a bunch of change they have had for while.

There is nothing fishy about anything. Your finds are normal. Everything you've described I've seen more times than I can count. I've gotten sealed boxes that have been sitting around for years. I recently bought a box that had red font on the brown box. Not a red field with the letters in brown like the current box. Those who have been searching cents for a while know what I'm talking about. The newest coins in there were '07s. Lot of minty fresh '07s. When large collection or stockpiles get dumped, it is not uncommon to get a chunk of it as it moves through circulation as it dilutes... I really can not buy into the notion that Brinks has a coin searcher sitting at the machines going through coins. The speed and volume of the coin being processed all but makes that impossible. This wouldn't attract attention from security if someone actually tried? There are more surveillance cameras in those facilities than you can imagine. This reminds me of the myth that Brinks sorts out silver. Even though we are finding silver in Brinks boxes...

I agree with Bowfin, it's just random chance. I've had many strange things happen with brinks rolls to, like finding 15 wheats in one roll. If some is searching and doing that, please keep it up! LOL

I would expect someone on the east coast to find more P's than D's. Just like in your change I bet 95% is from Philadelphia and only 5% is from Denver. At least I know that is close to the ratio here in NC

I agree that there seems to be something fishy going on with brinks (and I'd never trust them to watch my money), but I also don't have any other options. I'd love to find a place where I could get bags, though, to avoid brinks and avoid ripping open so many rolls.

Had a buddy who worked for Brinks. He got a 1000 bill 1 time that he exchanged 10 100 bills for. The way he described it to me you were moving pallets of money bills/coins. When you werent doing that you were in the amored truck picking up or delivering money. Like some one stated the place has cameras every where. They have more people watching you then working with the money.
