Hey All,
am at my Dad's for the weekend. He purchased the unopened rolls of the new nickels. One of them is opened ... so I was looking through them. One nickel has a die crack on the jaw line of jefferson. It is definately a raised hair line crack that follows his jaw. Is this anything special that he should be a little excited about or is this fairly common?
TIA!

Hi sheepy

The OIV nickels were a 2005 release.

with the exception of a few of the new Buffalo nickels, die cracks add very little in the way of value to the the coin.

Thanks, Rick... just curious... I was happy that I recognized the crack so I guess we just chalk it up to learning! :-)

I agree, die cracks are quite common on newer coinage.

To add, the denomination is spelled "nickel", not "nickle".

I stand corrected... spelling never was my strong point... ;-)
