Hello

This United States 1922 Peace dollar was the first coin I ever purchased from a dealer when I was around eleven quite a few years ago. I would appreciate it if the online community would help me assign a grade to this Peace dollar.

It looks about AU 53 to me.

AU-50 or so, with an unfortunate gouge above "TRVST". It also appears to have been cleaned. You may want to keep it for sentimental reasons but it would be easy and inexpensive to upgrade to a nice MS-64. A dealer might give you $23 or so for it; kick in another $10 and you could probably get a far superior example of this common date.

By the way, it looks like there is a D mintmark above the tip of the eagle's tail; if so, it's a Denver mint coin. That makes it slightly less common than the Philadelphia coin I first assumed it was. It is still basically a bullion-value piece, easy to find and cheap to upgrade.

Too much wear on high points of hair for AU IMO. XF is what I would go. The PEA in peace is very faint...weak strike maybe. Not super collector value, but I would keep it regardless. Its your first purchase.

And with silver over 40 an ounce, you better get a good bit more than 23 bucks for it at melt.
