The following is a press release from the Perth Mint

Here's five famous characters from fiction and folklore:

Sherlock Holmes
Dracula
Robin Hood
Peter Pan
Dr Jekyll

Each character has a well-known rival, and together they're the inspiration behind Heroes and Villains, an extremely limited 1oz silver proof coin set released by The Perth Mint this month.

So who do these characters loathe and oppose?

All is revealed in this sequence of images showing the five spectacular coins:

Holmes and Moriarty

Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character created by author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The author's first story featuring Sherlock Holmes was A Study in Scarlet published in Beeton's Christmas Annual in 1887.

I am a big Sherlock Holmes fan, I will be getting that one. Thanks for letting us know.

EDIT: just checked Perth, and apparently they are not selling them individually. Does anyone think that may change?

Immediate reaction?
This is so contrived! Is this anything to do with real numismatics?

Not really, but most modern NCLT issues have nothing to do with real numismatics. They are only for revenue raising.

$105 per coin is a bit hefty! I have never dealt with this company before. Are they known for good qaulity products? Or should I expect to see the price drop like a new car rolling off the lot?
