My question to all of you negative Nancys who replied to this thread is 'why are you being jerks?' The guy/girl asked a simple question.
Either give an answer or don't say anything.
Anyhow, the answer is 'no.' There are rules/restrictions being put in place for certain operations who sell large amounts, but if my memory serves me right it only applies to sellers who do not actually have the physical stock to sell. You'll have to research it, but this came up a month or so ago. Rest assured that buying/selling physical gold/silver/whatever else is still legal. This new deal stems from the Dodd/Frank legislation if I remember right.

Just to be safe, you should go ahead and give me any silver and gold that you might have. I'd hate for you to get arrested

It wasn't a stupid post, that was my point. It was a simple question and you should have been treated with the same respect given to everyone else on this forum.

If the premise that OTC bullion buying were true, and, If I were a U.S. citizen, I would be quite annoyed.
But with the way I collect gold and silver coins, (and if I were a U.S. citizen) I still would not be VERY annoyed.
Why?
All of the gold and silver coins in my collection have a numismatic, historic and cultural value considerably above the bullion value.
Fortunately, U.S. citizens would still be able to trade bullion quite happily, by non OTC means.
As an Australian citizen, I would feel as if I have just dodged a silver or gold plated bullet! I have only done two trades in bullion in my life: A 1 oz. platinum Koala in 1993 (I still have that), and a 1/2 kilogram silver bar, in 1985, sold six months later.

Quote: "The only stupid question is the question you don't ask." I've heard that. I've also heard some REALLY stupid questions! Just watch the news on TV for a while and you will see plenty of dumb questions. These are usually asked by brainless bimbos and empty suits as if they were actually questions worth answering.
