We knew it was coming. I wonder with the recent market activity, what will this news do to precious metals?

Not sure,I would think PM's should rise because of the fear factor. I know it will start new threads.

No. This is the first ever credit downgrade for the US.

Then it's about time that the governance of the Country passed back to the People!

sel_691:

I believe the governance IS passing to the people. (thanks primarily to the Tea Party). More re-inforcements arrive in December 2012 (more Tea Party Senators to move the Senate from Democrat to GOP). Then with Obama gone in 2013 there is the repeal of Obama care, (if the Supreme Court doesn't throw it out first), and a complete repudiation of the welfare/Socialist agenda...

Question is... can we make it 16 more months?

Yes. Last time was 1917. Obama challenging the decision from S & P. Trying to save face. Good luck. Done.

LastGold, let's hope that happens. I don't think America is that smart unfortunately. Too busy watching "Dancing with the Stars", "CSI New York", whatever.

Anyway, you get my point.

Funny, I don't watch T.V. at all. I must be weird.

I do watch TV. Vary rarely, you can be lucky enough to come across a doco. on the history of economics. Helps to give you some insight into the current ructions of the World economy.

Things just happen at light speed now, with modern electronic interconnection, rather than at glacial speed. Helps to explain the highs and lows of market sentiment.

"Sheeple" is a very effective coined word. I first saw it here in the CCF.

No, it's the first time the U.S. credit rating has been downgraded since it received the top rating in 1917.

Just a gentle reminder to keep the discussion on numismatics or this will need to be moved to General Discussion.
