I came across this when I bought a lot from a flea market awhile back. The Kennedy half looks like a weak strike . I'm not sure and I have not seen one sealed like this before. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Could be a weak strike but I think I see a formed rim. Could be a Grease Filled Die? John1

Looks like a weak strike. A closer view of the rim would be a help. Looks like a nice find. It may be a thin planchet? Or a struck through error (grease). A closer look would be necessary.

Thanks for the help. I will try to get a closer pic up later. I'm not at my house at the moment so it will have to wait.

If it was not in the package and came across it I would just see it a a very worn Half. Nice find

Sorry it took so long for me to get back, busy weekend. Here are some better scans of just the half. Would there even be a premium on this set if I were to sell it?

A few things to note- the entire coin is consistently weak with greater weakness towards the rim, not isolated in spots like a coin Struck Through Grease. This coin is obviously uncirculated since it is still in the Mint Set cello so it is not worn. The rim is weak and malformed and I bet the reeding is quite soft as well. All of those signs indicate one thing to me- a weak/adjustment strike, i.e. the coin was struck with lighter-than-normal pressure. I would expect the value of this coin to be a bit variable, there really is no "book value" for errors, but as an errror collector, I would certainly pay a premium for it

I agree. It would have a premium attacked for it. How much? Hard to tell. But a diffinite keeper.

Thanks for the info Biokemist. The edge reeding is a bit soft, but still noticeable. When I decide to let this one go, I will put it up for sale on here for sure and keep you and Coop in mind .
