I suspect some people collect them. I have a few and this is just like the ones I have that have been in circulation. Nothing great just what I call an average coin. I think they minted around 48M of them.
I'm pretty sure they don't have much more value than a dollar at the present time.
However they are rare in the sense most people have not seen them in circulation and they certainly are cool due to their size.
I would think this would be a cheap and cool series to collect in a MS condition.

If you like Eisenhower dollars and want to collect them, you should get them in proof also. They look nice in proof....

Quote: I suspect some people collect them. You would be correct. Check the 42-page thread on the subject. That's a decent looking Ike. '71 and '72 P&D Ikes in high MS condition are hard to find. This is because those years were not released in mint sets. Examples had to pulled from circulation. Enjoy collecting and welcome to the forum!

I think Eisenhowers are a cool american classic. Nice big coin with the moon and earth in the background, great coin. Yours is worth a buck, I guess some will pay more, don't know why they would. Point is you can collect them without breaking the bank and eventually get some nicer ones, silver and proof issues. They don't cost much either. Nice collection to own and pass to your grandchildren someday.

man some people come off as really big jerks on here, seems just like a real family huh What a way to turn some people off to the hobby sorry for a couple negative replies Brian2012 like the others said though the coin isn't that rare, but not seen very much anymore in circulation. I put together a set of them because they are cool and since this is my hobby I wanted a set of them if you like the coin save it. No one can tell you what is cool to you.

If you are new to the hobby, putting together a set of Eisenhower dollars is a great way to start! None of them are very expensive or hard to find, and they look awesome in a good album!
