Is This A US Pattern Nickel? - Coin Community Forum

echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 11/27/2006 09:15 am Hello, I am new to this forum. I have had this Liberty nickel over 40 years and have never been able to determine if it was real, or a error coin. But now I wonder if this could be a pattern coin. The coin weight is 5 grams and appears to be aluminum or some other like metal with a smooth edge. On the reverse there appears to be some extra metal at the edge. Becky Pillar of the Community United States 954 Posts	Posted 11/27/2006 2:16 pm 5 g. is the perfect weight for a CuNi Liberty nickel. Yours has a Cud on the reverse, which is a very cool error, but the coin is in very bad shape so it is not worth very much. Here is my example.. Report this Post to the Staff
