I just won an auction for an ANACS MS 63

Gonna pay $65 with shipping. I think this coin is a waste of time but for some reason the design appeals to me and I think I just needed to buy something.

Think I overpaid?

The book value for a MS63 is $80 before shipping. So you got a good deal, in my opinion.

yeah I like the old commemorative halves myself, not to crazy about the Columbian Exposition one but everyone to his own but I still think you did pretty good on the price. Just think if you ever start a Dansco 7070 you will already have one hole filled (if you want to crack it out that is) of the 4 holes for commemorative halves, I was going to use classic commems for mine and would have if it only had 1 hole for them, but it has 4 and I figured what the heck, I can get moderns for a fraction of the price and still fill the holes and spend the extra money for other coins needed but I do like the classics

I just bought one that looks just like it. Heavily toned, but uncirculated underneath. It is a beautiful design and as the first US Mint 50 cent silver commerative, I thought it belonged in my 19th century type set. Good purchase.
