A couple of weeks ago some of you provided advice on which of several available old cents I should pursue. Here are the two I purchased and based on info some of you provided -

1795 is a S76b R1 ?
1796 is a S97 R3 ?

I'm not good with a camera so I've provided both scans (green background) and camera pics (blue background). The pics have too much light and the color is off - the coins are both a nice chocolate brown more similar to the scans.

Any help grading these will be appreciated!

Here are the scans -

Not too familiar with these, but I'll go with G-4 on the '95 and VG-8 on the '96.

AG-3 on 1795

Maybe (details) F-12, (lots of hair detail) on 1796

Not so sure about the 95, I would probably have to have it in my hand to see all the details.

I think you called the 1796. I got S97 R3 as well. I would say VG-6 net on it.

Probably a good 4 net on the 1795.

The 1795 obv is in my opinion a G-6, while the reverse is AG3 (maybe less). Overall I'd say G-4 at most.

On the 1796 you have EF details (look at the individual hair strands, the bow and leaves), but you do have overall surface damage. I'd still net it at as at least a Fine.

^^ sounds about right, though I was more in the VF details range for the 1796.

AG-3 on the 1795.

The 1796 is really exceptional save for some corrosion. I will say EF details but agree with a net grade of F due to the surface damage.

1795 - AG3 - I can't give it a G4 because of the reverse. The obverse is only a weak G4, but the reverse is an FR2.

1796 - F15 details with environmental damage - I can't give it a VF details because of the 100 in the fraction.

Nice find on both of these. Both surfaces appear to be uncleaned.

It looks like you have a lot of empty space in these pics. You should really crop your pics so that the image of the coin is larger on the page without the wasted space.
