I have always wanted to be able to accurately grade coins. I am able to give a rough guess on the grade from experience but I am always a little off Any tips on how I can improve

First of all, it does not come overnight. I would suggest you pick up this book, Official A.N.A. Grading Standards for United States coins.
Great book. Study pictures such as the PCGS online grading and visit often, our grading forums here.
Grading is a subjective practice but over time, you will be able to tell what a coins grade should roughly be

Even in this forum, grades vary. One members VF is anothers AU. Get the books, study the terminology and the key features for each series you are collecting.

Know the significance of wear on the "WE" for a 2-center, the wheat ears on a lincoln and the breasts on a Standing Liberty quarter and a walker 50c. Pay particular attention to the breasts!! There are different important features for each coin series.

Welcome to the forum.
