Have been meaning to post the following coin, guess this would be a good thread to combine it into... From the recent Sedwick internet auction:

Realeswatcher, were you the winning bidder on the coin with Carlos splitting headache? I saw that coin in Sedwicks auction but didn't bid on it, I already have an abundace of 1784's. Cool coin.
Nicolashing, your coin with the die clash makes me nervous. I don't like the look of the coin, the obverse shows a clean sharp strike with minimal wear so why does the reverse show a weak stike and what appears to be significant wear? Just my humble opinion.

No, that 1784 was odd to the point of unpleasant to me. Sedwick actually had it on ebay for quite a while for something like $190 OBO... was surprised nobody snapped it up or came close enough with an offer.

Regarding this piece, I actually don't see much wear on the pillars side... just a really soft strike. Theoretically, couldn't that be the result of a convex planchet? (not all that uncommon on these)

However, all that business going on around the peripheral legend area is very questionable. That's an awful lot of "die rust"...

I am not sure that is all soft strike. Both castles and one lion sharp, the shield outine sharp but one of the lions flat as a drawing? Right side shield looks possibly re engraved or at least played with. Way too much "die rust" and way too many pock marks (especially around the mint mark). Seems to me I have seen that "die chip" in front of Carlos' chin somewhere else. I would pass on the coin.

Doesn't look right to me. Something about all that die-rust-like "chatter" around the legend and small design elements, like by the dentils and inside the crown. Strike weakness manifesting itself on one side like that is also odd, as Jfransch mentioned.

I wouldn't go for it, personally.
