Straits Settlements, a former Britsh crown colony, administered from the Malay Peninsula from 1826 to 1939. It was later changed to Malaya in 1939 to 1952. From 1952 to 1963, was name Malaya and British Borneo. Will be posting some coins of 1/4 cent, 1/2 cent, 1 cent, 5 cents, 10 cents, etc. from Queen Victoria to Queen Elizabeth II. Queen Victoria, 1/4 cent, copper/bronze, 2.3 g, dia. 18.0 mm  King Edward VII, 1/4 cent, bronze, 2.3 g, dia. 18 mm  King George V, 1/4 cent, bronze, 2.3 g, dia. 18.0 mm

I have visited that part of the world several times, and enjoy reading about it. I'm trying to put together a type-set from Sarawak. Thanks for putting these pics up.

Dragons Song: I am the same as Peter. Thanks for showing these. For me, they are an interesring set of pictures.
As an item of a collection of 90 or so different types of square coins from the World, I have a rather nice red EF Straits Settlements 1/2 cent 1932. I feel rather lucky to have it. I think my type set of square coins for Straits Settlements and Malaya is complete.
Even so, your collection for Straits Settlements and Malaya in particular is much more comprehensive than mine.

Thanks Peter and Sel, yes the 1/2 cent of 1932 and 1940 are very diificult to come by in fine condition. Peter, Sarawak and North Borneo is in Kalimantan, where as Malaya is in Peninsula of Asia. Cotinuing to post the 1 cent series. King George VI, 1 cent - 1940  King George VI, 1 cent - 1940l, under the cent there is l  King George VI, 1 cent - 1943  King George VI, 1 cent - 1945

Foreign coins were freely circulated in the Malay Peninsula and Borneo, under the British Crown Colony. however, was demonetised in 1904 and declared non legal tender in the Straits Settlements.
