1981 Lincoln Date Error? - Coin Community Forum

Unfortunatly, I learn better by example than reading specific examples in coin literature. What type of error is this coin and why? If it is common doubling, then why is it that and not a die error? thanks again! I'll work on getting a better pic up of the full coin. Report this Post to the Staff

You'll have to find a better way to soom in on the date area. If you're using a scanner that probably won't be possible. You'll need a digital camera to come up with acceptable results for any sort of online attribution. Report this Post to the Staff

the.silver.standard New Member United States 17 Posts	Posted 11/28/2006 10:26 pm if there is doubling in more than one part of the coin, does that make it more likely to be Machine Doubling versus a die error? I just noticed that though the date seems to be double struck in some form, lincoln's profile is also doubled at the forehead, nosetip, and upper lip. Report this Post to the Staff

The highest likelihood is either that, Die Deterioration Doubling, or no doubling at all, but it's quite impossible to tell without a better image. Report this Post to the Staff
