I'm afraid I'm going to have to destroy your dream and add the extra 0.1%. It is indeed a fake Justinian follis; we've seen an identical one here before. The giveaway that confirms a die match, as I said in that other thread, is the little notch above the second "P" at 3 o'clock on the obverse.

I think I may have a real one somewhere around, but I recall it is a lot smaller and bent.

This is what I was thinking about. Looks nothing like it, funny how the mind plays tricks on you as you grow older....

It looks like a model for an early suspension bridge.
Did Brunel get inspiration from it?
