That's like those "treasure box" or "estate sale" auctions that promise GOLD [flakes] and [at one really worn] SILVER, with all the rest being worthless foreign coins and modern reproductions. Amazingly, it was all found in an old cigar box (not included) inside an old grandfather clock in a secret room of a house I just bought...

Which is to say I sincerely doubt this seller is suffering from run of the mill "ignorance." He uses just enough weasel words so that he isn't outright lying.

It's that $5 shipping that stopped me.

I sent him an email with a little education about the nickel and all his silver he has. I bet he doesn't put it in the auction though

It's sad how many people try to hock '64 nickels as "silver" on ebay. I've sent numerous emails to auctioners, but to no avail.

Well he did say the nickels were between 1940 and 1964, so there COULD be a silver nickel or two...

I just can't believe that someone would put a bunch of mismatched coins in one auction. It really shows this guy know nothing about them (and he won't get much either).

i think there is no point in messaging these people and enlightening them. I'm sure most of them know already and are trying to play dumb and hope someone bites thinking it's silver. it takes 5 minutes of online searching to find what american coins and years are silver.

You wonder if they are really ignorant or just trying to snare an ignoramus or two.

darn! I wish I saw that so I could have bid! lol I don't know what's more amazing, the fact that it sold or the fact the seller has 100% positive feedback.
