i recently posted a thread about trying to complete a set of Jefferson nickels - completey out of circulation, from roll searching. so far after only four boxes - I have 16 holes still unfilled, (one of which is the 2010D. but a fun side bar is that I have found coins from 11 different countries, which I think is really cool. 8 from Canada - which is techanically a foreign coin, form here. 2 from columbia (50 pecos) 2 from panama (cinco centesimos 1 from cuba (10 cdnt) 1 from singapura (20 cent) 1 (5 euro cent) 1 cayman island (10) 1 equador (5 centavos) 1 confederatio helvetica (20) - I really have no idea where this is 1 I can't even make out the letters. I'm guessing middle east although I really don't know why I guess that. 1 east caribbean states (25 cent) which was in the reject tray at the bank - where I "dump" my return coins. all of wich I find fasinating and informative - not to mention fun just sharing - thanks.

Good times, I've only found Canadian cents so far in cent searching. Going to start nickle searching soon and like you hoping to complete thru boxes.

I completely agree with the fun part. When I go to DC, I get as many customer rolls from banks I can afford. Since DC is a National Capitol with lots of embassies, you can't believe the number of "finds" you get.

Helvetica is not just a font, it is the Latin name for Switzerland. Its use as the official name is a neutral choice since they have four official languages (German, French, Italian, and Romansh) that give four different names to their country (Schweiz, Suisse, Svizzera, and Svizra).

Nickels are definitely loaded with all sorts of oddities more so than any other denomination. I've found coins from over 10 countries while nickel searching and never found any from any other rolls. Nickels have to be one of the funnest to search through besides halves!

"wolf"...what were you searching FOR, when searching an entire box of 2010D, or did it just happen that you were searching a box of nickels tat turned out to be entirely 2010D? by-the-way, the 2010D is one of the coins still missing in my search to complete a set of jefferson's, through roll searching!

I like finding the foreign coins mostly when they look very similar to our own. There are a few coins from CA or SA that resemel Barber coinage that I find very interesting

I see the occasional Canadian nickel in rolls, and I have had a pair of Panamanian 25 centavos turn up in change. They are the same size and composition as the Washington quarter.

that's pretty cool, very new to coin roll hunting( 2 box penny, 10 rolls nickle) but thinking of working more on nickles, don't really know why, used to hate them for some reason, all of a sudden I want to buy them now, maybe because they are cheap

I've gotten coins from 7 countries from Lincoln Cent roll searching, (strangest being a 2 groschen coin from Austria minted in 1935). I think if you could live long enough, and go through enough rolls - you could probably get coins from 100 countries from roll searching!
