How unusual is it to find S mint marks in rolls from a bank. I recently got 4 rolls and found a total of 14 S mint marks. Seems very unusual to me. Should I sell them or hold on to them? What are they worth? Do any go into circulation or have they all been removed from a set? They are dated between 1968 and 1988.

These "s" mint dimes were all issued in proof sets and not meant for circulation. Depending on their condition they hay have a premium but none are silver.

Unfortunately those were removed from Mint types of sets and whoever did it, just didn't care. Usually criminals that steal coins don't want to get involved in selling coins as coins so they just dump them into coin types of machines, coin counters, banks, etc. Also, most crooks are not Numismatically educated so a coin is a coin to them so that is how you got those.

Just carl: That seems to be the most plausible theory to me. At least someone just didn't know, or could not care, but at least jimV does!

JimV: Congratulations buddy!
