no mint mark about a vf40 based on you can read liberty and no major defects. guy at coin shop offered my 180 is that a fair price?

I would say No. The quick internet search, leads me to think $400-$500 if its actually VF

thanks so based on 400 I should be able to get 300 for it? I seen a few on ebay averaging 440 but then again that was buy it now price and no one bought them

In order to give you an accurate opinion, we really need clear pictures. Condition is everything where coins are concerned and there is no VF40 - it's either VF20-35 or EF40-45. Also, there are a lot of counterfeits out there. Many of these are very good and appear to be genuine without close examination.

I would go VF20 and that is valued at 500. So yeah, 180 was WAY low. 500 being book value, he could expect to get at least 450, so an offer 375-400 would seem reasonable to me.

its really hard to say that this is genuine from the pictures but I do not see anything that stands out as it being a fake either. But better pictures would be needed to be sure. I would see if someone in your family has a digital camera you can borrow or to take a picture of the coin for you and then post it so we can see if any of the ones that knows the series well enough can determine authenticity.

Thanks,we have a coin show coming soon might try and sell it there. I want 350 at least for it do you guys think I could sell it on ebay? Would it be worth having it graded?

This coin looks like it is at least a Fine. This would be a coin that I would consider having graded because of the frequent counterfeiting of this series.
