It arrived yesterday,I'm very pleased with it but there does seem to be alot of nicks all over the obverse and reverse.looks like it was in a mint bag full of Lincolns that was banged around quit a bit.Never the less considering what I paid I'm very happy with it.This was the first and only 2008 Off Center I've seen to date and it is the last year of the LMC.Thought I would share it

Thanks john1 With all the little nicks ,How much does this affect the grade? If anyone would'nt mind taking a jab at a grade,I sure would appreciate it.I'm not sure to call it Fine,AU or even a low MS.Thanks

I am not good at grading but will take a stab at it. It must be mint state, maybe MS62. The nicks you speak of takes some of the eye appeal away but not much. Like I said I would be very happy with it if it was mine. John1

Do you think the nicks are from bag damage or from when the coin was struck off center?

Quote: Do you think the nicks are from bag damage or from when the coin was struck off center? Hard to say. Could be bag damage or when the coin was minted and dropped into a hopper where many more coins fell on top. John1

I'm pretty certain it's bag marks.I can't think of another reason for the nicks

Thanks for the grade John.Anyone else want to grade it?

Awesome coin ... agreed this is the first and only 2008-D off-center Lincoln I have seen as well. Quote: I'm not sure to call it Fine,AU or even a low MS. Your lovely off-center cent is in Mint State (MS) condition based on what I can see in the photos ... but the MS designation does not imply perfection ... just that the coin has been produced and released without any circulation wear. Soooo ... you might say ... how to tell if there is circulation wear? Twist the coin about in a bright light and look for breaks in the original mint luster on the high points of the design ... in this case Lincoln cheek and hair will suffice. Once MS is established ... then the question becomes level of preservation relative to a 'perfect' coin ... and this is where the many bag hits on your coin come into play. The coin as shown in your photo is very 'baggy' ... and many of the marks are on focal points of the design ... So IMHO this is an MS62 or so Lincoln. Hope this does not confuse you. Post back with any questions. David

I'm still here. I poke my head in the door every once in a while now days. How may I help you? If your inquiring about selling I sold it four or five years ago.I bought it off ebay for about $15.00 and turned around & sold it for $160.00 I got a good deal because the seller had crappy pictures of 3 off center Lincolns & he didn't even mention the dates.Hope I answered your question if that's what it was.

Yes, that was my question, I was wondering if you still had it. I would gladly pay 5 times that. I have been collecting mint errors since the late 1960s. I have been working on a set of Lincoln Memorial Cents in major mint errors, by date, mint, metal and small dates, that's a total of 112, many I have as Multi-Errors (note my avatar), 66% in fact. I have all but 3 of the 112, I am still trying to find these 3 as a major mint errors, they are 1970-S small date (two clipped coins have been critified by ANACS), 1982-D Zinc small date (a few nice off centers exist) and 2008-D (this is the only one I am aware of), thus you see why I was contacting you. At the least you should know I think you found a very cool coin. Thanks kurt PS for your enjoyment: 1982-D Zinc small date off center
