Thinking about placing a bid for my F-VF Dansco. This particular date is tough to find in a pleasing original condition.
His pictures are not the greatest, I asked him for better pictures but I can kind of get an idea. Looks original with LIBERTY. Price of $199 seems fair for a F12 & free s/h. Thoughts?

Hard to tell the grade from his pics, but it definitely looks at least Fine and that price is pretty good. My only issue is the color, the pictures make it look possibly cleaned/retoned a little, but he says it's a chocolate brown and does have good feedback and a 7 day return policy. I think it's worth a shot.

My thoughts exactly David. I think I will throw a bid down. I will have to see it in hand but, my first impressions were good and he has a return policy and 100% FB.

I took that obv. pic and adjusted the levels to better resolve detail.
I think I'm seeing the lower headband definition below LIBERTY.

I think it looks nice and original, I can't see every letter of liberty though. The wear on the coin and devices appears as though liberty should be intact so getting a better pic is a good idea. You don't see many nice '69's , thats for sure.
Check out the 1869 altered date thread I started, amusing. I'm curious of you thoughs of that one.

DVcollector's photo of that coin appears to show that coin better than the seller's photo. Almost all letters in the headband are visible. I'm not a good grader of coins but that one could be a VF-20+ which puts it about a $300 area. Even if F-12 could be in the $200 area easily.

I'm worried (just slightly, though) about the discoloration on the reverse, under the C and E of CENT. There could be corrosion under whatever is on the coin? Great return policy, so I say go for it. I've seen a whole lot of 1869's, and so few are problem free, that's the key with this semi-key date.

Nice looking coin, a more detailed picture would help a lot.

I think it could be worth at least what seller is asking or more.

One area my eye keeps going to. Obverse at rim above the "A" in
states, all the denticles of this coin seem to be good except that
area. Also the left side of the second "T" in states, might be a
minor hit there, from rim to "T", just hard to tell.

Not trying to run the coin down .. just pointing put a possible
minor problem. It could be worth it to check the coin out in hand.

Thanks guys :)
When ever I see grime on copper, it concerns me for the long term. Corrosion could form or may have already formed there. This coin looks fairly decent judging by the pics, so in hand I must have...I sound like Yoda :o

I think it's a really nice coin Dave! I've been going for exactly the same look, but have been focusing on the early 70s. I took a gamble on this one that the coin pictures were poor, but it looks F-12ish

John,
It blows me away but you and I have the same eye for coins, especially IHC's! I would have went for that in a heartbeat. Has that, "don't worry, I'm original" look to it and yes, I can see LIBERTY slightly strong and yes, I think you took a good gamble at a F'ish coin! Nice.
