I'm better with Bust halves, but I'll give this a try. I moved your topic to the VAM section since this is where the Morgan experts look.

I think it is an S/S Right, which could make this a VAM-8 or 8A. Your picture is great. If you could provide nice pics like that of the entire obverse and reverse and a closeup on the date, that would help immensely.

Incidentally, if it is a VAM 8 or 8A, it has a rarity rating of 4.

Someone with more knowledge will be along to help you later in the morning.

The loops of the S look filled, which is not at all uncommon. Consider the miniscule size of those loops on the die, compared to the 150-ton striking pressure, and you can understand how they might wear prematurely.

The image is nice, but a tad small to be making positive conclusions about variety. Unfortunately, many of the 1881-S varieties are difficult to attribute without great magnification.

Forum Mom may be right, s/s, possibly a 8 or 8A.

Give us better shots of the mm and PUPs

Doesn't look like the VAM 8 series to me, there would be the edge of the upper S serif to the right of the serif you have but it appears to be a small case of PMD on that serif..
1881-S was a fabulous year, great strikes for the morgan series, it doesn't have broken letters and obvious smoking guns to narrow anything down at a glance....
One needs to start from the beginning with full shots of OBV and REV pics and then close ups of the DATE and your MM as shown...While your Mint Mark looks "set left" to me
the date could be Near or Far or slanted which we have not a clue...and this info would get us headed int he correct direction...Post some more pics to help us help you...
