Today at this adult daycare that my family friend works at, I was looking through this small register mainly for any copper pennies. I found 24 of them, with a few from the 1960's (I really think the ones from the 1960's will start to become hard to find), but the best find was a 1943S " War Nickel". The best part about find it is that there was only like $1-$1.50 in face value in nickels. So to find one without even looking hard is nice.

Even more interesting is that out of the six War Nickels that I own, three of them are 1943's (D, P, and S marks) and the other three are 1945's (D, P, and S marks) I don't have a single War Nickel from 1944. I just need the D, P and S 1944 nickels and I'll have them all.

It's all about paying attention; that War Nickel maybe have been overlooked by hundreds of people down through the years, but you made the effort to check closely, so there ya go!

Finding a War Nickel is such a good feeling. I went to the back years ago for just one roll of nickels, and a War Nickel happened to be in that roll!

Oops I did forget about those 1942 silver ones! And thanks guys; I'm lucky not just for finding the nickel itself, but that I found it in such a small register of coins. There were probably only 25 coins or so inside of it. I just imagine how many rolls people like us buy just to look for silver and to find maybe 1 War Nickel every 5 boxes (if any). And I looked at the quarters and dimes, but none were silver.

Great finds! That goes to show that you never know where you might find some collectible coins. Those War Nickels might be hard to find if someone isn't paying attention and knows what to look for. Wheat pennies obviously are different than the memorials, but the War Nickels look almost exactly like other Jefferson nickels. Great job!
