I collect die clashes from the 1940s-1960s avidly.
Hanging numbers, moons, halfmoons, hearing aids, boomerangs, harps and guitars, I love them all

I've come across some puzzling 1859 die clashes .
The only Vicky cent clash I'm familiar with is the 1881H reverse beads one in Charlton, so this is new to me.

Comments would be appreciated.

1. "Double hanging 59" - two boomerang like clashes can be seen between the 5 and 9 of 1859, similar to those seen in 1960s pennies.

2. "Hanging 9" - a simple boomerang over the 9, also like those seen in 1960s pennies. The doubled 5 is a bonus

3. "Queen Vic portrait?" - an outline going around the reverse, almost looks like a portrait.

4. "Numerous clashes" - one between 5 and 9, another above E, and a third between O and N in ONE.

I like strongly clashed coins. I keep them when I come across them. SPP, that is a great clash. I enjoy it each time you have shown it.

I do recall seeing a red-brown 1859 cent in a PCGS holder with an awesome die clash. I can't remember where though, perhaps on a Heritage Auction page... I think Zonad pointed it out to me a couple of years ago (on another web site).

Those are most impressive examples of clashes. I have not looked too close at my coins for clashes yet. I thing I will start with my Vicky cents today!

You will find them with part of the vine and leaf in "Canada, and also above her head. A very rare and difficult one will be the 'ear canal", between the "E, and N" of cent. It has been seen above the "E", as well.
