me neither. A solid design in BU or PF beats fancy crystals/holograms/colour/glass any day

I don't mind some of the crystal coins that the mint has done....but others are just cheesy. I guess they need to make a profit somewhere though.

Yeah, they're getting a little carried away with all those crystals in coins these days.

I personally think that lotus dragon looks the best of any coin in any of the silver lunar series so far.

It looks like I'll be getting both dragons this year. I see the price went up.

Odd thing about this year's lotus dragon coin too, RCM decided to go with 9999 fine silver as oppose to the sterling silver of the rabbit and tiger. Switching the metal composition mid-series....

I wouldn't be surprises if the RCM made a mistake in composition, like they did last year with mintage figures for the $15 Lunar Lotus - Year of the Rabbit (2011). They initially claimed a mintage of 19888, but COA numbering was set at 48888. On November 3, 2010 the RCM wrote to inform of the mintage error on the certificate and sent us a revised version. But what's interesting now is BOTH, the $15 Fine Silver Classic Chinese Zodiac Coin - Year of the Dragon (2012) AND the $15 Fine Silver Lunar Lotus Coin - Year of the Dragon (2012) will have mintages of up to 48888. By contrast, the $15 Fine Silver Coin - Year of the Tiger (2010) and the $15 Fine Silver Coin - Year of the Rabbit (2011) SOLD OUT due to low mintage of only 9999. Now, because of the SUPER popularity of the Dragon the RCM is trying to capitalize without regards to those who subscribed to the 12-coin set and those collectors who had hoped for continuity in mintages. Flooding the market with a staggering 48888 NCLT coins is never a good thing so I think in the long term this will hurt both sides.

It must be a miss print...Under spec's it's a 38mm with less than an oz of silver....sterling like the other 2

It's scalloped though, so bound to loose a bit of weight if maintaining thickness and diameter

I just think 48888 is WAY too many coins, fine silver or not.
