That is very interesting! It doesn't seem to be the right direction for die wear? Maybe it's a "trail dies" coin? If it is, it would be the earliest known, and my coin from 1869 would lose that distinction! I'm not an expert on trail die coins, but if you post in the main coin forum with "trail die" in the subject, somebody who knows better might respond.

This is a trail die I believe and I would be very interested in seeing this coin if possible. If it is attributed as such, it would be the earliest known example. If you would, please contact me at traildies@aol.com. Thank you.

Wow thanks! That is awsome too hear BJ, now I'm really interesting too find it out So I'm busy with making some extra clear pictures from the "trail dies" and will post them tonight on the forum. If it still appears to be, then we can talk about maybe shipping it to the USA... as I live in The Netherlands But I will post the pics by tonight, and hopefully I will have the earliest known trail die in my little humble collection

Congrats! It looks like you're going to have the earliest trail dies known! At least until someone finds an earlier example.

After looking at your new pictures, I am fairly confident that this is not a trail die. The lines from the affected devices are not parallel in direction to each other, as they should be in a trail die. These lines appear to be radial in direction and may have been caused during the striking of the coins. This is similar to Die Deterioration trail lines (when you have a trail lines on the lettering close to the rim that are enhanced by metal flow), but even in that situation, the trail lines are parallel in direction to each other. I thank you for the additional pictures. Regards, BJ Neff traildies.com MADdieclashes.com

hmm.. that's unfortunate too hear, although I did try to not get my hopes up to high luckily But is this coin now still considered as an error? And if so what kinda: Die Deterioration trail lines? If I eventually would sell it, should I ask more than the Spotprice? (Still keeping it though, but wondering how much the value is approximatly?! Anyways thanks for the help and info so far
