I bought my first Morgan dollar online today on a Dutch coin forum for €20, aproximatly $27,50... And I was wondering if I did good,? Also what the grade would be? And is that toning on the coin? Edited by Kingz 08/19/2011 6:48 pm

I know basically nothing about Morgans, but you got it below melt! As long as it's really silver, you did fine.

I would think AU50.
Value $30 to $35.
Some toning.
Nice for a first Morgan.
It looks real.

EF40, yes, that's toning, and yes, I'd be feeling pretty smug if I were you.

With that much breast detail it has to be XF or better. I can't see a lot of wear on the wing tips, and it appears that the cotton balls are showing some detail. AU50. I think this is a coin where the color fools people. My gut reaction is that if it has full mint luster people would grade it higher.
