I am going to sell some coins from my collection and use the money to buy some different ones. I haven't sold much on ebay for the past few years but have about 2000 feedbacks (99.9% Pos). I am looking for opinions from people who have sold both here and on ebay and what their thoughts are, pros and cons to oth sides. I only mention the ebay feedback rating to show that people will have confidence buying from me on that site. Here, however, I am still fairly new. Do members here buy much from the auctions on this site? I have bought some LWCs from Coop and was very happy with them. I look forward to any comments anyone may have. Thanks, Bob PS They are fairly common 90% silver coins with some slabbed PCGS and NGC coins as well.

If I were you I would auction a few of your least valuable ones here as a test to see if you will be satisfied with the final sale prices. Keep in mind that you will reach a broader audience on the Bay, but will be hit with unwanted fees that will cut into your bottom line.

you would have a very limited audience here;
for example a new user needs to wait 14 days and have 50 posts here just to be able to buy or even ask a question about your item. I think that is why most of items here are Buy/pocket-it-now becuse there are not many bidders to run up price. for thecommon 90% silver coins just take them to a coin show to sell.

If you're worried about not getting the bids due to the staleness of your feedback, just list them with a starting price of what you'd be willing to accept. ebay lets you list 50 items per month with any start price. A few sales like that will freshen your feedback rating, and given the 2000 total feedback, it shouldn't take much to reestablish yourself. Slabbed coins sell well on ebay, so that's the route I'd recommend.

On the other hand ebay is a poor venue for junk 90%, the fees eat you up. You could probably sell that here for melt or darn close to it, without the unpleasant fees. Alternately, look for a bullion dealer in your area. I was able to find one locally who only took 3% on each side. Way better than ebay and no shipping cost.

It's simple really

Post an item here and ask the price you want for it. If it doesn't sell then list it again. There are no fees so there's no harm from it. I'd prefer to buy from members instead of Bubba in Missippi who just learnt how to use his free AOL floppy.
