Silver Mines is on Modern Marvels right now. It was recorded in 1995 so it is out of date. Still interesting to watch.

There's a copper one too. I found the acid leeching really cool.

In my travels this summer I have seen a increase in mining activity in the old districts of Colorado. There is still lots of metal between Teluride, Silverton, and Ouray Colorado.

I have heard many "rumors" of pumping the water from the Tombstone mines and reopening. The only reason it closed was the pumping tech of the time was unable to keep up with the water and the price of silver and gold was too cheap to operate it.

The specific new operation I saw was at 10,000 feet elevation and was pumping out yellow water from the entrance, fresh dozed road up to the portal.

I love Modern Marvels and love this show. I have DVR'd a few of these including the silver mines, diamond mines, and one about money. The shows are always so well done and worth watching.

The episode of the BEP is very good. Especially the part of the "super note". There are counterfeit $100 made by the North Koreans. The only way they are identified is when they are returned to a Fed branch and destroyed.

Also, the $100,000 bill was pretty interesting also.

Even the manufacture of the "paper" was interesting.
