I recently came across this unusual quarter in some pocket change.
Not sure what the F stands for or why it's there, but can't seem to find any info on the web, any help would be appreciated.

1981-Quarter-With-F-Stamp-On-Washington-Head?

It is just PMD. Called a counterstamp. Some random person stamped that on there after it left the mint. It could be someones initial or something like that.

Most oddity items like this were done out of sheer boredom. I've never seen one with a single letter though

I'm guessing some kid playin' in shop class with letter stamp punches

There's a reason why I am guessing this...

Anyway, it sounds a bit vulgar when you vocalize what it is.
