Red Book lists this in just G-4 grade at $25, so I'd say retail it is worth more than melt.

That makes me feel good about my purchase. I just won the bid for $19 plus $2.95 S&H. I needed one for my collection & this was the cheapest best looking one I found in a while. Can't wait to get it in my hands. =) (I need to buy a Red Book)
Thanks!

Great coin! I have a soft spot for 1854 quarters. That date/coin (not that exact coin) was the first coin I ever received for my collection. Got it from the "Tooth Fairy" when I lost my f1rst tooth as a little kid. The one I got was the exact coin my father had received for his first tooth and when my son lost his first tooth it passed on to him.

It's VG in my opinion, and yes, worth more than melt. I collect this series quite a lot and love it.

I don't think its worth over $20 bucks. Key word though is THINK. I'm not expert but why is it I see 1854 quarters so often. Seems like not 1 of them ever got lost

While this is a common date, it is a VG, a two year only type coin and was reasonably priced. Nice purchase!

I'd be happy to have that coin anytime. VG+ and I like it.

Your right but that was back in 1854 when they were so common. Check the calendar. That year is now gone.
