I have an uncirculated 1950 George VI penny. It appears to have a die rotation error of around 20 degrees or a little more. (I believe it is counterclockwise - George is looking downward when I rotate the coin.)

Is this anything special or is it a fairly common error?

People get really excited with rotations of 45 degrees or more.

20 degree rotation is not as common as 5-15 degrees, but I dont think its particularly rare either.

Here is a scanned image. It is my first attempt at scanning a coin so it is not all that clear but shows the angle of rotation.

Thanks for your help. This forum is a great resource!

Between this forum and the Charlton catalog, I have gained a lot of knowledge about Canadian coins and collecting.

I didn't take up coin collecting until a couple of years ago, and I have lived in the U.S. (TN) for 14 years now after living in Nova Scotia all years prior.
