Just got back from the local RBC branch to pick up some new $100 notes that are supposed to be out today but they didn't have any. They told me "maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after..." I guess I'll try again later this week.

I picked up a bunch of the new 100s from my local RBC this morning.. Nice bills, but they smell weird lol. The serial numbers were all consecutive, but not low by any means. Woulda been nice to get a bunch of serials under 1000.

Well then, twoplustwo, at the risk of totally weirdin' you and everyone else out, I am not going to say I am looking forward to smelling the bill 'cause there was a whole topic on that weirdness. Although, I can say, I look forward to exposing 4 of my 5 senses to this new bill, as I have no intentions of tasting it! I will be getting mine on Friday....

I got one today. I thought I was supposed to see the denomination of the bill when looking through the maple leaf and pointing it at a single point light source. I don't... Can anyone else confirm that this is or isn't the case for their bills?

A lot of people are having problems seeing the denomination through the maple leaf.

Well, I must admit that I think the new bills with the see-through-transparent areas are very cool => oh and "yes", having any sort of ship on a note is always an excellent idea! (well done on the $50 note, RCM => bravo!)

Oh, and when I examined one of the new $100's this morning, I couldn't detect the denomination of the bill when looking through the maple leaf and pointing it at a single point light source ... but I did hear the ocean when I put the note to my ear

The new $100s smell the same as Slipknot's "Iowa" album when it was hot off the presses. Very ink-y. I passed one to my sister and she noticed the smell almost immediately.

Gotta hate the bank tellers. I specifically tell her that I'm a collector and that I don't want any creases or anything. Then she count them out one by one onto the table with slight folds. WHAT THE that's like lightly scratching a new Mustang.

By any chance, did she take the gum out of her mouth and then lick her nicotine-stained fingers before thumbing-through the mint-wad? ...
