Went detecting in my front yard today and came up with 8 IHC!
These make up my first IHC ever found in detecting (or anywhere else for that matter)

every single one is badly corroded, but I can make out at least three dates-1906, 1900, and 1891. These coins were all within 2 feet of each other.

My property is pretty old. The records date back to the house being occupied in 1720, and if I remember right all the coins were at least 6 inches deep.
With that said I should be finding really old stuff soon!

Yes vermontensium, New Hampshire to be exact.

Ok guys, update on dates. Didnt turn out to be what I thought. But hey, they were covered in dirt and I couldt make out the dates then...but now..

1887
1901 (2)
1902
1903
1904
1906
1907
1908
1909
Huh. Turns out I had 10. Guess I counted wrong!
And to boot-a linclon I couldnt identify but now I can...1909!!

Almost have a full run of 20th century IHC!

and btw ianmprice I am trying to get everywhere I can on that land. We do have 5.1 acres though and most of it was or is used for farm land. But I still have a lot of front yard to check! This one catch used about 20 minutes of my digging time!

Old-time collectors didn't have Whitman folders, just Levis with holes in the pockets.

I would get a bigger coil on your detector so you can search deeper. What kind on detector are you using?

A larger coil only increases the area of coverage. Can you lower the frequency? Metal Detectors utilize Eddy Currents, the lower the frequency, the deeper it will penetrate, however you do lose sensitivity, so you need to find a happy medium. Success!

Nice...any "S" on the backs of the 1908-9?
There is also a major DDO for 1887.

No, DVCollector, no S on anything, I was really pumped that there might be before I cleaned off the back.
