I have a chance to get this 1948 dollar at what seems like a decent price. I am a little concerned about it being so shinny and having those brown spots, but haven`t seen it in person yet.

Would appreciate hearing your thoughts about the grade and the spots.

1948-Dollar

Thanks!

Hard to see, but MS61?

I want to sent it to ICCS, but it has to be ICCS MS60+ with no flaws to join the rest of my dollars....

Not sure what the spots are or how it might be considered by ICCS.

looks like a typical BU (low 60s grade) with typical bag marks. I don't really see the brown spots from the picture.

Is that the brown spot between the I and G on the rim?

And, is that a rim ding at 4 o'clock?

Nice looking coin. You might want to try an acetone dip on those spots.

Between the I and G is one of the brown spots and it is one that concerns me most as it almost looks pitted. It also looks like the rim might be crushed a bit at the same spot. There is one at the base of the neck (0630) that is bigger. Also near the rim at 0930 and 1030 (I and V). Other than the one between the I and G, it could just be light toning.

I did not notice the ding at 4, thank you for pointing that out. I will have to go see it.

He wants $1200 for it.

XF-40 trends at $1350. At $1200 it should be a home run.
