i picked up a good quality three ring binder, several years ago, of first day stamp covers and 1 oz sterling silver medallions commenerating various historical dates from around the world.

the medallions are about the same size as a silver dollar in high relief cameo and have some of the most beautiful detail I have ever seen on anything silver. on /or above the par for us mint proof sets

the binder has 36 monthly issues from 1974-6 that where all purchased by one of the deans at the university of maine.

while I have not been able to find any data on the international society of postmasters, a internet search led me to the family of the original subscriber who stated he was a coin enthusiast who sold his collection before his death.( there is a hall named for him at the UofM

i bought the set in 1998 for $100.00 and I am not worried about loosing any money because I bought them because I liked the work of the artist who did the work for the medallions.

i am not and never will be a serious coin collector but I do have several coins I have aquired during gun trades over the years.

my question here is does anyone know any thing about this organization, and the sterling medallions they commissioned?
