It could well be. On the other hand, I am sure that Greek history is filled with great rises and falls along the path of progress. Under Alexander, Greece ruled a large part of the known world. At other times, they have been a sleepy backwater that got very little attention. Fortunes of war and all that.

LOL, yeah well I've been so wrong that I was consistently right by doing the exact opposite of what I thought was right. I heard a name for that investment strategy the other day on CNBC, "the Costanza trade"... named of course for the Seinfeld episode where George does the opposite of normal to improve his life.
