Friend of mine sent me this image earlier today askin me to inform her of what it was. I've assisted her many times before but somethin about this stumps me. She describes it as the diameter of a typical US nickel, thickness of a US dime, with a hammered appearance instead of a pressed coin. on the side not visible is printed with .999 .. I am assuming possiblly gold cause the thickness and color but honestly I have no clue what this might be. Hope someone might be of assistance. Many thanks

The A in a triangle in the center looks like the Alcoholics Anonymous symbol.
Looks like a personal item, like the head of a stick-pin/tie pin. Is there anything on the other side that looks like it was connected to something and removed? Like leftover solder or a groove?

The other side has the same texture as the front and .999 stamped or pressed toward the bottom.

Well it's handmade and more then likely a one of a kind because of that. The 999 should be silver but means nothing unless it has a weight on it and because it's not a standard issue. See if you friend has a precise enough scale to weigh it on.
Rest in Peace

I spent some time last night trying to find similar symbols and I had no luck. It's doesn't match AA nor anything from the Free Masons. I tried a bunch of variations of the initials on the coin and still didn't find anything.

I am having fun looking, though. I love a good mystery/puzzle.
Rest in Peace

Okay, I just did a little more checking and found a site -- don't know how to put a link in this post -- so check out Researching Costume Jewelry. I first looked through the 'A's and an 'A' inside a triangle was used by Napier in 1922 (I think). So go to the 'N's and you will find Napier -- with a bunch of hallmarks and one looks exactly like the the center of that coin. So maybe it was some sort of company token. I might try looking around some more after supper.....we'll see.
