littleboy Pillar of the Community United States 764 Posts	Posted 09/03/2011 12:38 am the coins thickness is the easiest way to tell the difference. a bronze 1864 will be about the same thickness as a modern cent. a copper nickel one will be almost twice as thick. Report this Post to the Staff
