Hello,
I have decided that I want to sell my Morgan and Peace dollars.
I don't have that many Morgans and even fewer Peace dollars, and nothing really special. A couple of nice Morgans.
None of the coins are graded by a TPG.

I used the Red Book and Photograde to judge my coins, realizing that I am probably judging higher than they actually are.
I also looked at ebay to see how similar coins were pricing.

The price of silver on Friday closed at $43 and some change per ounce.
The coins were selling less than the price of silver. I would think that the seller would not accept less than the price of silver.

I know if I take the coins to a dealer he will only pay me the wholesale price of the coin.
How can I get an reasonable idea of the grade of the coins?
How can I find the reasonable selling price of the coins?
What is the best way to sell the coins?

Thank you,
Allen

BEST way to sell the coins for collector value and not lose anything due to fees is here. But you have to have 250 posts

To find the best price of them, just post a good pic of them here and we can give you a good estimate.

Don't forget that a Morgan has less than an ounce of silver in it. (0.77345051 according to google) At $43 an ounce, a Morgan or Peace dollar has $33.25 worth of silver in it.

I just did a quick scan of ebay and the only morgan's or Peace dollars I see going less than spot are fakes and copies. Just to make sure, you do know that silver dollars are only 90% silver? They only have $33.15 worth of silver at today's ending spot price.

If you can't sell here or directly to another collector, it may still be better to sell to a dealer than ebay. Make sure to check an ebay calculator (like: http://www.rolbe.com/ebay.htm) to see how much you'd make after ebay and paypal fees and compare this to what a dealer offers. Might also want to check APMEX.com and providentmetals.com to see what their buy prices are as well.

A Morgan is not 1 oz. silver. Right now a Morgan's melt is...

$33.15 (silver) + $0.02 (copper) = $33.17
Rest in Peace

Ditto on that Allen.

Post pics with your opinion of grade. Maybe you have something another member here needs or wants.
